Free Eye Exams for all Seniors and Kids*
Lifetime Eyecare has always provided our seniors and kids with free annual eye exams ($0 paid out of pocket with your BC Care Card or MSP number provided*). This means that you, the eye care paitient pay nothing out of pocket (hence why we use the term “free”). You just schedule your annual eye exam and bring your MSP number or BC Care Card information and your eye exam is fully covered.
Most other eye care centres don’t provide such free eye exams for a reason. They want to make extra money off children and seniors and we simply do not think this is the right way to go about providing eye care services.
So, if you are or have a child who is 18 years or younger, or are a senior 65 years or older, you are eligible for this awesome, free eye exam service from the wonderful optometrists at Lifetime Eyecare. See below for recommendations on how often Seniors and Kids should get regular eye exams.
- Very young children (up to one year) really should have their first eye exams within their first year of life. This is important to look for any issues that may exist early on.
- Children between the ages of 2 and 5 should have at least one eye exam before starting their schooling. Again this is important for identifying any issues prior to being in a learning environment.
- Children between the ages of 6 up to about 18 should have an eye exam every single year. Why? Because it is during this developmental period that vision issues can begin to emerge, affecting quality of life, education and even sports and activities.
- Seniors should be seeing their optometrist every single year at a minimum. Seniors have more vision degredation that any other group, along with various vision health issues such as strabismus to glaucoma that can have a very powerful negative affect on the quality of life for seniors.
